Here is an article I saw in the most recent Sports Illustrated that got me thinking:


I have long thought about the knowledge you gain as a coach and if you knew what you know now as a player, how good would you really could have been.

That’s why the term “in their prime” is so prevalent in the media. It’s not just an athlete’s physical prime, but also their mental prime too.

Having the physics and mental capacity to perform at one’s peak is a rarity when you look at how many college athletes actually turn pro.

How many “primes” are actually ever realized?
